The concept of "works righteousness" is a subtle and dangerous trap—a prison built with good intentions but ultimately leading to the captivity of our minds, wills, and emotions. At its core, it is the belief that human beings can earn God's love and favor or achieve righteousness through their own actions, rule-keeping, and performance of good deeds. While the desire to live a moral life is commendable—and indeed, we should—the belief that our actions can merit acceptance creates a dangerous illusion that leads to the death of our souls.
