Thankfulness Sustains Us

I counseled a lady many years ago that had committed adultery and destroyed her marriage, and her life.
After about an hour of talking, it dawned on her that she had been given a very good life; but because of deception, she had not been thankful for what had been given.
She had gotten into comparison with others' lives, which produced envy. This gave lust entry. And much like our culture today, she was deceived into thinking that this forbidden pleasure would satisfy her; however, it brought destruction.
II Peter says that all of the corruption that is in the world is here because of lust (men fulfilling desires without God’s wisdom).
In Romans 7:7 we see that the root of lust is covetousness. Coveting what we don’t have, or we buy the big lie of Satan that says we lack, and what others have is better, and we’ve been short changed.
All lies!
The only answer for lust/ desires is to open up our eyes and see what we do have, and to be thankful. Humble thanksgiving will sustain us and give us wisdom to increase our lives God’s way, and it will put an end to lust, and its deceptions.
