Self- Effort

Self-effort feels honorable and sounds so right.
However, if it is not built on a response to what Jesus has done, it becomes a deceitful tool that removes us from God instead of carrying us to God.
Self-effort driven by legalism either causes us to glorify our self-effort or drives us to despair because our heart knows we can never do enough. Wanting to do the right thing should always lead us to seek grace and not depend on self-effort.
