David had been appointed King, and Saul (who was the King) was out to destroy David. Jonathan, King Saul’s son, was next in line to be King; but was loyal to God’s way and his choice of David.

David and Jonathan both had a strong trait of loyalty. David had been appointed King while not seeking any rank, position, or success. He was simply loyal over his assignment, and the Prophet found him, and anointed him, King.

Loyalty is defined as faithful and steadfast allegiance. Loyalty is a trait of true Royalty. Knowing who you are in Christ, as a King and Priest, will keep you loyal to him.

Seek to learn and rest in your position in Christ, before seeking success. Promotion and success will follow his loyal and faithful people.
