So it is essential… no, it is absolutely critical that you build your life on an accurate theology. Or, if you prefer, and accurate picture of who God is and what he is like. People tend to carry with them mistaken beliefs about what God is really like. I have found that people can believe anything and everything about God – some of it terribly distorted and some of it downright false. If you want to change your life, however, it is absolutely necessary that you place your heart in the hands of God. And I know that you will be unwilling to do that until you understand his love and deep care for you.
