1 John 1:9 Confess
Nov 17, 2023I John 1:9 says that if we confess our sins, that he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
To confess simply means that the believer says the same thing to him about our sins, (plural) as he does. If as believers we find ourselves doing something that he says is sin, we agree with him, we talk with him about it, and we repent.
If you haven’t discovered this yet, you will find that folk that are disciples, and the righteousness of God, still sin. And if we refuse to play theological games with our position in Christ. We will confess and declare that he is faithful (can be relied upon) and just (observes divine law) in forgiving us.
This is talking about the daily grind of life for those that are in fellowship, believing in the Lord. The world has the sin of unbelief, the believer may, or may not commit sins, as we grow in Christ.
The good news is his faithfulness, and just cause in forgiving and cleansing. He doesn’t desire the weight of any sins in the believer's life to condemn you, or to hold you down!!
